Three Ways to Begin to Change the Mirror?

1. Interview Yourself

No I don’t mean like a job interview with the redundant, “what are your strengths & weaknesses” If you truly want to change and live a different life you must be willing to GET REALwith yourself.  Awarenessis the first step toward changing the mirror. Often we are looking at the rear view mirror and deciding how we fix someone else’s process while ignoring our own. Since the majority of our thinking happens unconsciously, asking questions helps us put a spotlight on our internal dialogue, which creates an awareness of our habit loops, judgments & wrong belief systems.

Here are a few starter questions:

*What does happiness & success mean to me?

*What would be the first thing I would change if it were easy?

*How would your best friend describe you?

*Who told you that you were capable?

*When have you allowed yourself to be uncomfortable?

*Which do you value most time or money?

*What does the first hour of your day look like?

*How often do you say? I can’t? This is hard? I have no time? I am not good at_____?

2. Make a Choice

Things happen when we take action.  We cannot take action until we make a choice.  Sometimes we sit in “paralysis of analysis” and remain stuck year after year.  Good intentions are just thoughts in our mind, until the thought becomes an action? When we chooseto throw out the processed food, when we select a trainer or coach to support our goals, when we decideto have that conversation. Life doesn’t just happen to us; our decisions pave the road toward the life we want to live.  What choices do you need to make that can reroute your course?

3. Commit toPractice

If you have ever played an instrument or a sport you understand the value of practicing. Practice involves the commitment to learn a new skill, to sweat, be uncomfortable, overcome frustration and at times delay gratification.  Practice is the bridge toward our “game day.” It is what we do repeatedlyin the valley that prepares us to climb the mountain. It is key to develop new habitsand change the mirror from the inside out.   Whether your goals center on physical, relational, nutritional, financial, etc.…unless you commit to practice you will remain the same.

Some questions to ask yourself:

*What is your game day?

*What are your playbook habits?

*How do you practice your skills?

*What are you willing to commit to today?
